I am proud to announce that sometime in the near future, my first book will be published. After years of teaching hands-on workshops, answering every conceivable question from hundreds of students; I am finally ready to put my full thoughts on paper. Now, thousands of monitor-hours later, this huge undertaking is in a manuscript form, which can be seen below. So far, the book project has been received warmly by the publishing house and is progressing slowly but surely. I designed this book as a guide to handcraft sixteen original chain designs, based on the age-old Byzantine chain. Inside you will find a full chain-making background, including a history of chains, terminology, metallurgy, ring formulas and various hand tools needed. Next, I utilize clear illustrations of techniques on wrapping wire, cutting jumprings, flush-cutting large catchrings, and concluded with a detailed quality control section. Once the basics are covered, the book begins with step by step assembly of each chain design. Each following chain design is placed in sequence of increasing complexity. While learning each new design, take full advantage of the Choose Your Own Adventure at the bottom of each design, just for the curious pupil.
