Craftsmanship I take great pride in crafting the best quality product possible, through continual research and development of techniques and chain designs. I strive for, yet realize it is not completely obtainable, a perfection in aesthetic flow and physical seamlessness in my jewelry art designs. I have and always will provide a limited warranty for my chain jewelry. Due to my cold-working / non-soldering chain making techniques, individual rings have the potential to open when torqued by enough force, causing the chain to break. If you have an authentic Davidchain original piece and it should ever need physical repair, simply send it to me and I will fix it for free, the address is on the contact page. However, I do not hold a guarantee on the metal's finish or color. Sterling silver will oxidize / tarnish to a soft, medium gray hue with time, exposure to natural elements, and the acidity of the wearer's skin. To maintain your jewelry's original silver color, clean the chain by scrubbing with baking soda and hot water. For a service fee, I will also do minor alterations to my previously made jewelry. Such as shorten or lengthen the chain's length, or adding catchrings to allow the chain to be fastened at adjustable lengths. I can also set a variety of simi-precious beads, or a wrapped stone centerpiece. See the Stone page for images. I work primarily with sterling silver round wire for my artwork. Sterling silver is often stamped 925; this refers to the metallurgical composition of 92.5% pure silver with 7.5% copper. This smelted melody of metals allows for the sterling silver to possess the strength and malleability to be forged on an anvil.
For each unique jewelry art piece created, I stamp a three-digit
index number onto one of the catchrings, as seen above.
Each number runs in chronological order as the date of the chain's
creation. Connected to the index ring is an S-clasp that
I hand-forge with a hammer and anvil out of round wire. Utilizing
blacksmithing techniques, this clasp design is extremely strong,
easy to utilize, and has no moving parts to break. I make three
different sizes of S-clasps, as seen below, for the different
sizes of chains that I create. To aid arthritic hands, I have
also designed a magnetic clasping system. Upon
request, the magnetic clasp can substitute the S-clasp on any
of my chain designs.
