My third book, Chain and Bead Jewelry Geometric Connections, is in progress at the Watson-Guptill publishing company to be released in November 2010. This new book continues my exploration into cold-connecting beaded chain jewelry designs that I began in my first and second books, expanding my published repertoire into a sophisticated series of geometry-inspired shapes and patterns.
Come join me through this 160-page quest to balance metal and mineral, from the basics of metal wire, gemstone beads, aspect ratio precise jump rings, and simple hand tools to the essential techniques you'll need to master jump ring assembly; setting headpin beads, forging S-clasps, crafting magnetic clasps, and bending identical earring backs from teardropped Argentium silver wire.
These skills will be put into practice as Byzantine chain sections will be assembled into singular, paired, serrated, and tripled chain patterns. We will then explore the Tripoli formation, which will be the backbone chain component of the geometric patterns to follow; 3 Tripolis into a Triangle, 4 Tripolis into a Quatrefoil, and 5 Tripolis into a Pentagon. Finally, in the organic chapter we will assemble the Fish, Snowflakes, and the elusive Butterfly centerpiece. Click on any of the thumbnails below for a quick preview of 5 out of 36 original jewelry designs illustrated in this informative book.
