Tools & Jump rings

Start with following tools and material: two flat-nose pliers, flat file, 3M ‘superfine’ sanding pad, an s-clasp, lots of jump rings, and a frisbee-golf disk serves as a mobile workbench. You can purchase pre-cut jump rings; you will need 18-gauge with a 5.5mm outside diameter. If you want to craft your own jump rings, you will need 18-gauge round wire, side-cutters, knitting needle mandrel, and an optional 3.6v electric screwdriver speeds the wrapping operation. If you are cutting rings with the side-cutters, wrap the 18GA wire around a 3.25mm mandrel, if you are cutting rings with a separating disk or jeweler's saw, use a 3.50mm mandrel.
