Hope you are all enjoying the springtime
weather, as the first green shoots break through the soil, and the earliest butterflies arrive in New Mexico. |

Here is the finalized cover for my third book, Chain and Bead Jewelry Geometric Connections; the new cover's jewelry design is the Ocean Bracelet that is set with a variety of green chrysoprase gemstones and single Venetian glass bead for visual bouyancy. I recently proofed a dummy copy of this book with my editor in NYC, and it looks AWESOME - can't wait for it to release November 10th. This new book continues my exploration into cold-connecting beaded chain jewelry designs that I began in my first and second books, expanding my published repertoire into a sophisticated series of geometry-inspired shapes and patterns. I am currently offering the options to reserve a signed copy or pre-purchase now and receive free shipping world-wide when it releases in November. |

| I am very proud to have made the cover of Wirework 2010 magazine, on sale at your newsstand through August. This extraordinary Kalmbach production, lists the who's who of contemporary wire jewelry artists. My project is a simple bronze Double chain (2+2+2) with faux amber beads (made by Sherri Haab) set between; seen second from left on the cover between Rachel Nelson-Smith's project at left and Rebeca Mojica's project at right. I am honored to be teaching at the 2010 Philadelphia Bead Fest show, and as an added bonus, my Celtic Byzantine key fob made the catalogue cover, at bottom left. I will be leading four workshops August 21st & 22nd; all classes are listed on my workshop page. You can register for the Philadelphia jewelry workshops at: www.beadfest.com. If anyone has ever wanted to take a jewelry workshop with me; this is my only scheduled teaching position in 2010, and the foreseeable future. I love to teach, yet after leading over 200 workshops in the past decade; I feel that I have done my duty to inspire a deeper appreciation for handcrafted chain jewelry. Thank you so sincerely to everyone who has taken a workshop and continued to carry the torch; inspiring a new generation of crafters. |

Beyond my winter procrastination – I have finally posted a selection of products on my ETSY shop. I am selling a variety of findings from Argentium headpins, forged s-clasps, and the super-strong magnetic clasps. As well, I will be listing my finished jewelry designs, from one-of-a-kind earrings, to my handcrafted bracelet designs, and even some of the book project jewelry that I delivered to the publishing company for the beauty image photography seen throughout my books. |

I am almost finished with the 4th book and currently in contract negotiations with Watson-Guptill, which was acquired by Random House last year, making things a bit more complicated. The new RH doctrine dictates that the book advance be paid out over a much longer time period, in which the author would not receive their entire advance payment until one year after the book releases; roughly 2 & 1/2-years from delivery. Needless to say, I am seriously considering the release of my 4th & 5th books by eBook and Print-On-Demand paperback copies. If anyone has any advice one way or the other, I would deeply appreciate your feedback as I weight the options of possible selling 30,000 copies and receiving $1 per book or selling 5,000 copies and receiving $15 per book. The 4th book will be an introduction to soldering, using solder paste in a syringe and a small butane torch to simplify the solder process. At left is an image of the Yin-yang formation that utilizes fine silver and copper jump rings for a duality within the bronze outer loop. |
