Davidchain Newsletter - September 2008
by Author, Artist, & Educator: Scott David Plumlee

Greetings from Taos, I hope this newsletter finds you with a smile as you enjoy the last days of summer and look forward to the Fall season. 2008 has already been a very busy year for me, teaching 32 workshops in nine cities nationwide; and I still have a dozen more beaded chain workshops for you to enjoy as listed below.

September 26-28 - Taos Ski Valley
Taos, New Mexico, USA

I have recently relocated to sunny Taos, New Mexico and very proud to be able to offer a weekend of jewelry workshops in my new hometown. Hosted by the Taos Ski Valley Chamber of Commerce, I will be leading three beaded chain workshops at the base area of the ski resort at 9300 feet elevation.

October 1-6 - Art & Soul
Portland, Oregon, USA

I am honored to be invited back to teach at the 5th annual Art & Soul venue in Portland, offering four classes that are all sold out exept the Triangle Pendant, as seen at left.

Also note that the Art & Soul venue in Hampton, VI opens registration Sept 20th.

November 21 - 23 - Bellevue Bead Festival
Bellevue, Washington, USA

The 1st annual Bellevue Bead Festival is produced by the good people at The Bead Factory in Olympia, WA. I will be leading four three-hour workshops, offering some new designs such as the Fish pendant, as seen at left.

If you cannot make it to a workshop, or need to keep busy between venues, here are some 'take-home-test' supply kits.
I am currently offering four different clasping systems including a bronze S-clasp, sterling S-clasps, and two sizes of super-strong magnetic clasps.

I am also offering four different keyfob projects,
the Triangle Keyfob and Quatrefoil Keyfob as seen at left

I am also offering four different bracelet projects,
the bronze Byzantine and sterling Twin as seen at left

COMING SOON - hopefully in October's newsletter

I have been working with the Swanstroms Tool Company to develop a new 'mandrel-tip pliers' in two distinct sizes for setting beads into chain designs in the 2nd book. When they are avalible for purchase, I will have them for sale on my website and offer a free tutorial.

I have also delivery my 2nd book to the Watson-Guptill Publishing house and it should be in print May 2009. For the next newsletter, I am planning to post a quick tour of the beaded jewelry projects in this sequel and offer advance copies for sale.

Until our paths cross again - take care and keep on smiling, Scott David Plumlee
